McKenna Batterson is a cross-genre writer based in Chicago. Her work has been published on platforms like Chicago Film Scene and Naked Cat Lit Magazine, and her stage work has been featured at the Davenport Theatre in New York City and the Prop Thtr in Chicago.
After graduating with a BFA from Syracuse University, she used her theatrical training to write and produce an original musical titled Lady Parts—a cabaret on gender roles that premiered at the Off-Broadway Davenport Theatre in 2018 for a limited run.
Her film and television critiques can be viewed on Chicago Film Scene, where she offers poignant, humorous, and thoughtful takes on media, focusing on female empowerment, the LGBTQ+ community, and mental illness.
She is currently editing her novel, The Sisters of Rot & Ruin—a queer, dark fantasy featuring a lesbian Beauty Queen navigating a fantastical world filled with the creatures of Celtic Mythology.
When she’s not writing, McKenna works in event planning and enjoys cosplaying, painting, knitting, and playing Dungeons & Dragons on her days off.
